Gloger's rule (occas. Gloger's law) [tr. Glogersche Regel (B. Rensch Prinzip geogr. Rassenkreise und Problem der Artbildung (1929) 160)], the empirical principle that within a given species (orig. of bird) the races which inhabit warmer or more humid regions are more heavily pigmented than those of cooler or drier regions.
