Formative element denoting chemical analysis or research which involves very minute quantities (of the order of a few microgrammes or less), as in ultramicroanalysis, ultramicro-analytical adj., ultramicro-chemistry, ultramicro-chemical adj. Also used without a hyphen as an independent word.
