umangite Min.|ˈjuːməŋgaɪt| [ad. G. umangit (F. Klockmann 1891, in Zeitschr. f. Krist. und Min. XIX. 265), f. the name of Sierra de Umango in Argentina: see -ite1.] A copper selenide, Cu3Se2, found as dark red, violet, or black tetragonal crystals.

Umangite.—Associated with eukairite, there occurs a mineral..which proved on analysis to be a variety of copper selenide... The new mineral occurs in finely granular masses. 1978Mineral. Abstr. XXIX. 198/2 Umangite (Cu3Se2), berzelianite (Cu2-xSe), and athabascaite (Cu5·1Se4) are found in fracture fillings in a carbonatized mafic intrusive rock from Christopher Island, Baker Lake, North West Territories. |
