glyptal|ˈglɪptəl| Also † glyptol. [Proprietary name, perh. f. glycerol, -yl + phthalic, -ate.] Any of the alkyd resins, esp. those formed from glycerol and phthalic anhydride or phthalic acid. Also glyptal resin.
