Gomarist Eccl. Hist.|ˈgəʊmərɪst| Also 8 gommarist. [f. Gomar (see below) + -ist.] A follower of Francis Gomar (1563–1641), Professor of Divinity at Leyden, who zealously defended orthodox Calvinism in opposition to the doctrines of his colleague Arminius (see Arminian).
