albizzia, n. Bot.|ælˈbɪzɪə| Also albizia. [mod.L. Albizia (A. Durazzini 1772, in Mag. Toscano III. iv. 11), Albizzia, f. the name, Albizzi, of a family which introduced the silk-tree into Italy: see -ia1.] Any plant of the genus Albizia (family Leguminosae), comprising flowering trees, shrubs, and lianas of tropical and subtropical regions, some of which are cultivated as ornamentals or for their timber.
