albomycin, n. Pharm.|ælbəʊˈmaɪsɪn| [ad. Russ. al′bomitsin (coined by Gause & Brezhnikova 1951, in Novosti Med. XXIII. 3), f. L. albus white: see -o1, -mycin.] A siderochrome antibiotic produced by the bacterium Actinomyces subtropicus, which has been used against bacteria resistant to penicillin.
