† grovet Obs. Also 6 grovette, 8 grovett. [f. grove + -et1.] A little grove. In OE. charters a form grafet(t occurs, which is commonly read as grăfet for *græfet, and explained as ‘trench’. If it be gráfet f. gráf grove (and so identical with the present word) the suffix is not orig. diminutive.
