guarea, n.|ˈgwɑːrɪə| [a. mod.L. genus name Guarea (Linnaeus Mantissa Plantarum (1771) ii. 150), f. Cuban Sp. guara.] Any of various tropical hardwood trees of the genus Guarea, esp. the species G. cedrata and G. thompsonii, growing mainly in West Africa and yielding a durable pale mahogany-like timber; also, the timber itself.
