Guarnerius|gwɑːˈnɪərɪəs| Also Joseph Guarnerius; Guarn(i)eri. The name of a family of famous Italian violin- and violoncello-makers of Cremona of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, used to designate a violin or violoncello made by a member of this family. (Cf. Joseph.)
