1. Of, pertaining to, or characteristic of, Alexandria. As n., an inhabitant of Alexandria.

2. Belonging or akin to the schools of philosophy in Alexandria, esp. those which produced Philo Judaeus, the Neo-Platonists Ammonius, Plotinus, Iamblichus, and the Christian fathers Clement of Alexandria and Origen. As n., a member or follower of one or other of these schools.
