[a. med.L. *gȳromantīa, f. Gr. γῦρο-ς circle, circuit + µαντεία divination. Cf. F. gyromancie (Rabelais giromantie).]
A mode of divination said to have been practised by walking in a circle till the person fell down from dizziness, the inferences being drawn from the place in the circle at which he fell.
