1981Lancet 16 May 1072/1 Like orbiviruses, Hantaan virus is also unstable at low pH and inactivated by heat at 56°C for 30 min. 1988J. C. Bell et al. Zoonoses 102 The causative agent is Hantaan virus (Bunyaviridae). 1993Nature 10 June 480/1 The best guess is that URDS is caused by a variant of the rodent-borne Hantaan virus originally isolated in 1976 from the lungs of a field mouse in Korea, near the Hantaan river. 2002Arch. Virol. 147665 Since isolation of the prototype Hantaan virus in the late 70s more than 20 new species [of hantavirus] have been described. |
