† ˈhardock Obs. Also hor-dock, hardoke. [app. f. OE. hár, ME. hôr, hoar + dock.] Some coarse weedy plant: probably burdock. The burdock has hoary foliage. (Some have however suggested that the word is a misprint for burdock itself; and various other conjectures have been offered.)
