helvellic, a.|hɛlˈvɛlɪk| [tr. G. helvellasäure helvellic acid (Boehm & Külz 1885, in Arch. f. exper. Path. u. Pharm. XIX. 414), f. mod.L. Helvella, a genus of ascomycetous fungi: see -ic.] helvellic acid, a poisonous acid, C12H20O7, present in some fungi of the sub-family Helvellæ.
