hemiˈdactyl, a. and n. Zool. [f. hemi- + Gr. δάκτυλος finger.] A. adj. Having an oval disk at the base of the toes, as in the saurian genus Hemidactylus (Webster 1864). B. n. A saurian of this genus; a gecko. Hence hemiˈdactylous a. = A. (Mayne Expos. Lex. 1854).
