The name of Benjamin Tyler Henry (1821–98), American inventor, used attrib. to designate a breech-loading magazine rifle or parts thereof, subsequently used in the Martini-Henry rifle. Also ellipt.

The name of William Henry (1774–1836), English chemist, used in Henry's law (see quot. 1940).
