Hermo- combining form of Hermes, as in Hermoˈglyphic, Herˈmoglyphist [cf. Gr. ἑρµογλυϕικός pertaining to a statuary, f. ἑρµογλυϕεύς a carver of Hermæ, a statuary] (see quots.). Hermokopid [ad. Gr. ἑρµοκοπίδης], a mutilator of Hermæ: in quot. used attrib.
