hesychastic, a.|hɛsɪˈkæstɪk| [ad. Gr. ἡσυχαστικ-ός, f. ἡσυχάζειν or ἡσυχαστής (see prec.).] 1. Appeasing, quieting. In ancient Greek music applied to a style of melody which tends to appease the mind.
