heterosite Min.|ˈhɛtərəʊsaɪt| Formerly also heteposite, heterozite. [ad. F. hétérosite, -zite (named by F. Alluaud aîné: see L. N. Vauquelin 1825, in Ann. de Chim. et de Phys. XXX. 294, where the word is spelt hétépozite), irreg. f. Gr. ἕτερος different + -ite1.] A phosphate of iron and manganese, differing from purpurite in containing more iron.
