hewettite Min.|ˈhjuːɪtaɪt| [f. the name of Donnel Foster Hewett (1881–1971), American geologist: see -ite1.] A deep red hydrated calcium vanadate, CaV6O16·9H2O, occuring in nodules and as the coating of fibres or needles (see also quot. 1955).
