† Hobbididance, Hoberdidance Obs. [The first element seems to be Hobby or Hobert, perh. in same sense as Hob n.1 2, 4 (cf. hobby-lantern), but perh. associated with hobby-horse n. 2; the rest seems to be F. de danse ‘of the dance’ sc. morris.] The name of a malevolent sprite or fiend, one of those introduced in the morris-dance.
