‖ Holometabola, n. pl. Entom.|ˌhɒləʊmɪˈtæbələ| [mod.L., neut. pl. (sc. insecta), f. Gr. ὁλο- holo- + µεταβόλος changeable.] The insects which undergo complete metamorphosis. (More usually called simply Metabola.) Hence holometaˈbolic, holomeˈtabolous adjs., undergoing complete metamorphosis. holomeˈtabolism, holomeˈtaboly, complete metamorphosis.
