homocysteine Chem.|hɒməʊˈsɪstiːn, -ˈsɪstiːɪn| [f. homo- b + cysteine.] An amino-acid, HS·CH2·CH2·CH(NH2)·COOH, which is important as an intermediate in the metabolism of methionine and cysteine.
