homotaxial, a. Geol.|-ˈtæksɪəl| [f. homo- + Gr. -ταξια (f. τάξις) arrangement + -al1.] Applied to strata in different regions, having the same relative position with respect to those underlying and overlying them, but not necessarily contemporaneous: cf. homotaxis; also to the fossil remains (usually of similar character) found in such strata.
