‖ homœoptoton|həʊmiːɒpˈtəʊtɒn| Also homoio-. [Late L., a. Gr. ὁµοιόπτωτον (sc. ῥῆµα), f. ὅµοιο-ς like + πτωτός, vbl. adj. of πίπτειν to fall, decline (cf. πτῶσις fall, inflexion, case).] A rhetorical figure consisting in the use of a series of words in the same case or with the same inflexion.
