up-dip, a. and adv. Geol.

A. adj. (Stressed ˈup-dip.) Situated or occurring in a direction upwards along the dip.
B. adv. (Stressed up-ˈdip.) In an up-dip direction.

Lahee Field Geol. viii. 191 When a fault is approximately parallel to the strike of the strata, the block on the side of the fault toward which the dip of the beds is measured may be termed the down-dip block, and the other one is the up-dip block. 1957G.
