Reeves|riːvz| The name of John Reeves (1774–1856), English naturalist, used absol., attrib., or in the possessive in Reeves('s) pheasant to designate a long-tailed Chinese pheasant, Syrmaticus reevesii, introduced to Europe by him and named in his honour by J. E. Gray in 1829.
