ˌhyperventiˈlation Physiol. [f. hyper- 5 + ventilation.] An increased or excessive exposure of the lungs to oxygen, resulting in a more rapid loss of carbon dioxide from the blood; the action of bringing this about (in oneself, by deep or rapid breathing, or in another individual).
