hypoglossal, a.|hɪpəʊ-, haɪpəʊˈglɒsəl| [f. mod.L. hypogloss-us + -al1.] hypoglossal nerve, the motor nerve of the tongue proceeding from the medulla oblongata and forming the twelfth or last pair of cranial nerves. Also absol. = hypoglossus.
