A yellow or yellowish-red crystalline substance found in extravasated blood; by some supposed to be identical with bilirubin.
1855tr. Wedl's Path. Hist. ii. i. 115 note, Virchow..regards them as composed mainly of a new colouring matter, which he called hæmatoidin. 1863Syd. Soc.
