variolite Geol.|ˈvɛərɪəlaɪt| [f. med.L. variol-a variola + -ite1 2. Cf. F. variolite, G. variolit.] A kind of rock embedded with spherulites which give it the appearance of being pock-marked (see quots.); esp. the diabase (diorite) of Brongniart.
