imipramine Pharm.|ɪˈmɪprəmiːn| [Rearrangement of some elements of dimethyl-aminopropyl-iminodibenzyl, a systematic name for this compound: see -ine5.] A tricyclic tertiary amine, C19H24N2, given orally as the hydrochloride, a white crystalline compound, in the treatment of endogenous depression.
