The name of one of the north-eastern states of the United States of America, used attrib. in Vermont merino, a sheep belonging to a breed developed there.

XXII. 92 Vermont merinos were imported into Australia from the United States in the 1880s. These sheep had wrinkly skins, and many that crossed the Pacific by 1890 presented a concertina-like appearance. |
