II. 93, I marked yn the Wyndowes 3 sortes of Armes, one al verry of blew and white. 1562Legh Armorie 131 b, The seuenth doubling, is properly called Verrey, and is on this fashion, Argent, and Azure, or els Azure and Argent. 1572J. Bossewell Armorie ii. 31 b, Some are borne Barrie vndee, barrye verrye, or enuecked. 1610J. Guillim Her. (1611) i. iv. 15 Hee beareth Verry, Or and Azure by the name of Claude de Rochford. 1655M.
