‖ amaurosis Med.|æmɔːˈrəʊsɪs| [mod.L., a. Gr. ἀµαύρωσις, n. of action f. ἀµαυρό-ειν to darken, f. ἀµαυρ-ός dark, dim.] Partial or total loss of sight arising from disease of the optic nerve, usually without external change in the eye.
