That increases; growing, augmenting, enlarging, etc.: see the verb. Esp. in law of increasing return(s): the observed fact that in certain manufactures and industries the expenditure of labour or capital up to a certain point produces a more than proportionate corresponding return. Cf. diminishing ppl. a. 1 b.
