vinifera, a. (and n.) Chiefly U.S.|vaɪˈnɪfərə| [a. mod.L., specific epithet: cf. viniferous a.] Of, designating, or derived from the vine Vitis vinifera or its grape, native to the Old World, and also widely cultivated in the U.S., esp. as vinifera grape. Also as n., the vinifera grape or vine.
