vogesite Petrogr.|ˈvəʊdʒɪzaɪt| [ad. G. vogesit (C. H. F. Rosenbusch Mikrosk. Physiogr. (1887) II. 315), f. Vogesen, G. name of the Vosges Mountains in N.E. France: see -ite1.] A lamprophyre consisting essentially of phenocrysts of hornblende (or augite) in a groundmass containing potash feldspar.
