1382Wyclif 2nd Prol. Ps., Alle the salmyes, that ben inscriued to hym Dauid, pertenen to the sacrament of Crist, for Dauid is seid Crist. 2. Sc. Law. refl. To undertake, under penalty, to prove (something) false: see inscription 6. Cf. Fr. s'inscrire en faux, ‘to vndertake that an Euidence, etc., is false; or to vndertake to prove it false or falsified; also to accuse of or charge with falsehood or falsenesse’. (Cotgrave.)
