intertextuality, n. Lit. Theory.|ɪntətɛkstjuːˈælɪtɪ| [ad. F. intertextualité (coined by J. Kristeva 1967, in Critique XXIII. 444): see inter- and textuality n.] The need for one text to be read in the light of its allusions to and differences from the content or structure of other texts; the (allusive) relationship between esp. literary texts.
