entrenchment, intrenchment|ɛn-, ɪnˈtrɛnʃmənt| [f. entrench v. + -ment.] 1. a. The action of enclosing within trenches. In mod. Dicts. b. concr. That which is formed by entrenching; a line of trenches, a post fortified by trenches; loosely, a fortification.
