wardite Min.|ˈwɔːdaɪt| [f. the name of Henry A. Ward (1834–1906), U.S. naturalist and dealer + -ite1.] A hydrated basic phosphate of sodium and aluminium, NaAl3(PO4)2(OH)4.2H2O, found as transparent tetragonal crystals.
1896J. M. Davison in Amer. Jrnl. Sci. CLII. 154 A considerable quantity of this mineral has been received by Ward's Natural Science Establishment, of Rochester, N.Y. It is in the form of nodules and shows the mineral in several shades of green, and one specimen of pure milk-white... I would give [it] the name of Wardite, in honor of Prof. Henry A.
