[f. L. inviscāt-, ppl. stem of inviscāre to smear with, or snare in, birdlime, f. in- (in-2) + viscum birdlime: see viscid. The pa. pple. inviscat, first used, was ad. L. inviscāt-us.]
1. trans. To render viscid or sticky; to mix or cover with a sticky substance.
