amphictyons, n. pl. Gr. Hist.|æmˈfɪktɪənz| [ad. Gr. ἀµϕικτύονες, ‘orig. ἀµϕικτίονες, they that dwelt round or near, next neighbours’ (Liddell and Scott).] Deputies from the different states of ancient Greece composing an assembly or council.
