amylate Chem.|ˈæmɪleɪt| [f. amyl2 + -ate.] A salt of the radical amyl, in which amyl takes the place of the oxygenated group in a metallic salt; as potassium amylate C5H11.O.K, compared with potassium nitrate NO2.O.K. amylate of amyl, = amyl ether (C5H11)2O, in which the potassium of potassium amylate is also replaced by amyl.
