Weichsel Geol.|ˈvaɪksəl| The German form of the name of the river Vistula in Poland, used attrib. and absol. to designate the fourth and final Pleistocene glaciation in northern Europe, corresponding to the Würm glaciation of the Alps. Hence Weichˈselian a. (also absol.).
