In North American Pueblo Indian mythology, one of the deified ancestral spirits which periodically visit the pueblos, to bring rain, etc. Also in Comb., as kachina dance, a dance performed at annual ceremonies by masked and elaborately costumed men impersonating the kachinas whom they seek to invoke; kachina doll, a doll representing a kachina, given to children at the annual ceremonies by the kachina dancers.
