anapophysis Phys.|ænəˈpɒfɪsɪs| [f. Gr. ἀνά back + ἀπόϕυσις offshoot, f. ἀπό off + ϕύσις growth.] A small bony process, springing in a backward direction from the neural arch of the vertebræ, between the metapophysis and diapophysis.
