kitchen cabinet orig. U.S. [f. kitchen n. + cabinet.] 1. Politics. A group of unofficial advisers (orig. of the President of the U.S.A.), popularly believed to have greater influence than the actual Cabinet (or the elected representatives, etc.). Hence, a private or unofficial group of advisers to the holder of an elected office.
